LEGENDS IN CONCERT: NEIL SEDAKA UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
As a boy from Brooklyn Neil had the type of upbringing that was always going to take him into music although his mother would have preferred 'classical' rather than 'popular'. Although continuing his classical interest, at 17 Neil formed a group called 'The Tokens' and caught the attention of record producer Morty Craft, which lead to the group recording a few singles with minor success. In 1957 at the age of 18, he decided to split from the group to promote himself as a solo artist and recorded 'Snowtime' for Decca.
